Hello Professor Matt! Yes, it was a good interview. Yet the fact that it was done now causes me to reflect on the continuing legacy of Clinton. Clinton was smart enough to know that the sooner his past came to light, the less the public would be shocked about it later at election time. And now, we have those who condemned Clinton for his lack of morality adopting his strategies in dealing with the public on the issue of their own sins. This should be cause for concern among those who say that morality is important in politics, yet look to Gingrich as their political savior.

JHG, very good point. The failure came in how Christians dealt with Clinton. There was not this mass expression of love and offers of support, etc. Christians were right in there making political attacks like everyone else. It just looks sooooo extremely weird now for the same people to be in love with Newt and Guiliani. Politics are having a bigger effect on Christians than Christians are having on politics.

Those who claim to follow Jesus should offer up prayers for their leaders no matter the political affiliation. We are commanded by scripture to do so. Did the evangelical church pray for Clinton as much as it prays for Bush.Probably not. However,my previous point was that those who claim to uphold public standards of decency should not resort to worldly methods to affect the public response when their own sins are revealed. Newt hopes that the conservative voters will forget about his affairs by election time. That is why he is dealing with the issue now. And we can thank Bill Clinton for pioneering this tactic in the realm of politics, which he did long before the Impeachment episode.
