Don't vote for a non-Christian. Wish it were that easy!

Nice column, Matt.
Saying that I am a Christian goes hand-in-hand with political office seekers (generally,)but this does not make them "doers" instead of "hearers only."
Actions, fruit, speak much louder than words.

I base my vote on a candidate's ideas on foreign policy, domestic policy, fiscal policy and not on what church doctrine they subscribe to.

I imagine that it must be tough for Christians out there. You never can really know if you are a REAL CHRISTIAN(tm) or not.

Sure you can walk down the aisle and shake the preachers hand but we all know that's just for show. No, in order to be "saved" you have to fit into some super narrow definition that Matt or some other preacher comes up with.

But wait! Even Matt might have to hear Jesus say "depart from me" after telling Jesus all the wonderful works he has done and Bill and Hillary might waltz right on into heaven. Don't really know do you. It all comes down to your own personal opinion of what the Bible means and if you were lucky enough to have the right ideas in the eyes of Jesus to earn the title REAL CHRISTIAN(tm).

That's why I like being an atheist. No holy books to argue about, no God who needs money to build a mega church, no Ted Haggard or Jim Baker to let me down and Sunday morning walking in the woods is a pleasure.

All I have to do is say "I don't believe in Zesus, I don't believe in Allah, I don't believe in Jesus...I just believe in me". No questions after that. I'm officially a REAL ATHEIST(tm)!
