Isn't your question really NOT 'What should pastors do to make Christians think (and act on those thoughts!)?' but 'What should pastors do to make Christians think like the pastor (and act on those thoughts like the pastor says to!)?
Pastors should preach and live the Gospel. If they don't have much success, they should work to preach the gospel in clear and concise ways that the modern culture understands and do a self-check to see if they are living it and understand it themselves. They should also disciple people at all spiritual stages, both pre-Christian and post-Christian so the burden isn't totally on the pastor to disciple future guests/memebers/generations.
most churches has pastors that preach the Gospel as if its a bunch of suggestions and not direct commands. i don't think that from the last time i read the Bible that Jesus was someone who went around throwing suggestments at people that met Him.
so, to me, the answer to this question would be for the pastors out there to stop acting like a bunch of sisses, and start preaching the Gospel the way it is meant to. if they do that, then the people who will take that kind of preaching will inturn have the desire to not only think, but carry out there worldveiw based on what the Bible teaches.
Matt, why is it we see pastor after pastor involved in sexual scandal after sexual scandal? That is one reason I left the church.
what are you talking about? what pastors are out having sex outside of their marriage? i think this is about the dumbest thing that i've ever seen written on here. just because someone went out, did the freak, and got cought, doesnt mean that ever pastor is doing things like this.... dumb
