So says this Bloomberg report which lifts some material from our radio interview with the governor.

I would be surprised if anyone cares. I am actually surprised that the information is up on the site. I think a lot of Barbour supporters are respecting what Eaves is all about.

I just read the article on the Rosemary Barbour situation. I would be very surprised if Barbour had nothing to do with or did not know about his nephew's wife getting a 100 million dollar FEMA contract. People gripe about the government giving people money and food, but not much is said about this kind of "hookup". It could be totally legit, but it surely does not look good.

Matt, do you find it the least bit hypocritical that the very people that would oppose a black kid getting a scholarship to the University of Michigan would claim minority status to get a 100 million dollar contract?

Re: hypocrisy. What are you talking about?

Hypocritical because the same people that took that contract based on minority status probably were on the side of Bush against the University of Michigan's programs for minorities. It is not a secret that Republicans do not support Affirmative Action and programs like that. If that is one of the major distinctions between the parties, how do you find yourself overlooking that? 100 million dollars is the answer to that. That is hypocritical. Here you have a Republican that did not mind labeling him or herself a minority to get that cash.

It's only hypocrisy if a Democrat does it. Didn't you get the memo.

Barbour and his family could rob the state blind and eat a kitten on live television and people like Matt and others would still vote for him because he has that almighty "R" by his name.

Anon:

I am not voting for Barbour. I have said so repeatedly on the radio.

Sorry to disappoint.

So you're voting for Eaves? You know, he's a Democrat and as such bound for hell. So I hear.

Matt, agree or not, Conservatives have claimed the higher moral ground on a lot of issues. I just find it very sad when time goes by and the truth on certain things comes out, a different picture is painted. Republicans, especially conservatives have attacked programs that attempted to give minorities a leg up for as long as I can remember. In the GOP platform, it says that you all oppose discrimination, reject preferences, quotas, set asides based on race, ethnicity,.....

That is unless its worth 100 million dollars.

I wonder if the Barbours think that quota are bad for blacks who wanna go to college...but a-ok for Barbours who want a sweet government contract.

Matt, I pointed out the hypocrisy. Do you find that as a minute detail worth overlooking? Call me crazy, but I think it is a big deal.
