Anybody remember this sordid day in American history?

Ten years ago today came the most interesting Drudge missive:

BLOCKBUSTER REPORT: 23-YEAR OLD, FORMER WHITE HOUSE INTERN, SEX RELATIONSHIP WITH PRESIDENT
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
At the last minute, at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, NEWSWEEK magazine killed a story that was destined to shake official Washington to its foundation: A White House intern carried on a sexual affair with the President of the United States!
The DRUDGE REPORT has learned that reporter Michael Isikoff developed the story of his career, only to have it spiked by top NEWSWEEK suits hours before publication. A young woman, 23, sexually involved with the love of her life, the President of the United States, since she was a 21-year-old intern at the White House. She was a frequent visitor to a small study just off the Oval Office where she claims to have indulged the president's sexual preference. Reports of the relationship spread in White House quarters and she was moved to a job at the Pentagon, where she worked until last month.

In all fairness, Clinton has to live with his sins. I always find it interesting that conservatives want to keep painting people with the same brush forever. Within a five minute period, I heard Matt talk about this Clinton story and Strom Thurmond. He did not and never would keep mentioning that for most if not all of Strom Thurmond's life he was a racist, segregationist who lead a third party with that same sentiment. Why are his sins any less important than Bill's or anyone else's? Does not everyone deserve the same respect you issue Strom and the like when you omit the worst parts of their lives? It is a rhetorical question because I have seen what talk radio is all about. Presenting both sides completely and honestly is not part of the intent.

Also, I think the day that Mississippi linked up Martin Luther King, Jr and Robert E. Lee to share a holiday was a sordid day. It is almost as bad as having Hilter Day and Jesus birthday together. There is a major difference there, but you guys get my point. This is the type of thing that Christians fail on. We know better, but because we value the things that we do in the South, we put them ahead of what is right.
