Got an answer to this question?

Why? An important question...
Last week’s question in “On Faith,” sponsored by The Washington Post and Newsweek, [http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/2007/08/clergy_sexuality/all.html], concerned the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s decision to leave gay clergy alone if they are in chaste, committed relationships. This somewhat cautious decision by one Protestant denomination drew a huge and angry response, from both pro- and anti-gay panelists and bloggers.

Why do you think Americans care so much about an “issue” that ignites so little controversy in Europe? Why are we alone in the developed world in our intense distress about the fact that a minority of people are erotically attracted to members of their own their own sex rather than to the opposite sex?

The obvious answer is that Europe has increasingly became secular. While we are headed that way, we have not fallen to such a low state of worship. We, the called, are needed more than ever to take up the cross and get in the fight for what God says is right.

That is a great question. Why are you people so worried about sex. The obsession is not good.

This is an outstanding question. Why would anyone be in such "intense distress" over the personal emotions and private acts of another individual?

Homosexuality is seen in the animal kingdom as well. For example, I have a chocholate lab named Rusty that appears to have homosexual tendancies. What causes this? Is it genetics? Is it environment? Or could it be Satan?

Should I be distressed?

Should I stone my dog to death?

Should I pray for Rusty's soul?

It is not that we are obsessed with or worried about sex. It is just that so many people want to force their beliefs that sex outside of marriage is such a wonderful thing. If someone is homosexual, that is between them and God, but when they use their choice of sexual relations as the main point of self-identity and expect "us" to accept and promote this, it is asking too much. Live your life and we will live ours as long as you do not use the government and acitvist judges to force us to accept unnatural and unhealthy lifestyles as normal. We have been told that you cannot legislate morality. That shoe fits the other foot as well. You cannot legislate immorality and pass it off as good for us and expect us to sit and take it.
So many people tell us to keep our faith to ourselves and all will be well. If I came upon your house and it was afire and I neglected to alert you and allow you to escape, would all be well then? It is necessary for us to share what little knowledge God has allowed us to have with those who do not have it.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Just as long as you do not use to government to force us to accept a certain lifestyle choice as being unnatural, simply because you say it is. Do we have a deal?

Sounds like a good deal.
I am not "preaching" solely against homosexuality, but against all sexual behavior outside the bounds of marriage.
By the way, it is not I that states it is an unnatural. Nature itself screams that this choice does not work (pro-creation, disease) in keeping the species healthy and viable.

The only people I see trying to force their ideals on other people are fundamentalist Christians.

One difference between a house on fire and god, faith, etc...the house fire can actually be seen.
